Project Description

We are Boston’s premier diving education center for Diving Physics Classes and other scuba lessons in Massachusetts and New England!

About The Course:

There are many questions that come up for divers after the certification program. How do dive computers change when diving at altitude? How does a digital gauge measure depth as I descend? Why does my buoyancy feel so different at 60 feet than at 30 feet? Why doesn’t my tank change pressure as I descend if pressure is increasing? How do 2 different sized tanks both hold 3000 psi of air? How does nitrogen on gas rates really change with depth and do deeper dives really make me more likely to get “bent”? These are all legitimate questions to have as certified divers. The Diving Physics Workshop explains these issues and also covers more practical aspects of diving. Feel free to bring any other questions you may have to class.

The Physics course costs $125 and is typically done on a Saturday afternoon.
Once you have paid you can sign up either in person, over the phone or via email. Just remember to check the schedule tab to make sure you can attend an upcoming class before signing up!  As always, if you get stumped or if you have questions that aren’t answered by the website you can always call (617) 277-2216 or shoot us an email at and we’ll do our best to help!

Before Class

Note- All the paperwork you’ll need, along with a what to do before class checklist is located in the corresponding tab

Before class there is a bit of paperwork you’ll have to fill out. The most important piece is the medical, which can be printed out and brought to your first classroom session.

Risk Awareness Videos

Because this course is classroom only, it is not compulsory to get a medical filled out. It is most important

The Physics workshop is typically held on Saturday afternoons at the shop. Please find the schedule for all of the upcoming Science of Diving courses Below:

This course is strictly classroom work. We will be meeting at the shop, and all of the work will be done on site. The address is listed below, above a map.

At East Coast Divers our top priority is to introduce smart, competent, and passionate divers into the world. Which is why several of our courses can be bundled together for a discount to promote the pursuit of dive education.

Our Science of Diving class bundle gives you 10% off the total of all 5 Science of Diving classes. It is popular for those divers pursuing their Dive Master certification, since all 5 Science of Diving courses, as well as the Dive Guide course, are prerequisites for achieving Dive Master.

To take advantage of the course bundle discount, choose the “SOD – 5 Course Bundle” option in the booking area at the top right of this page and the promotion will be automatically applied.
