SSI has updated it’s kids scuba programming. The program is now Scuba Explorers and has new an exciting possibilities for learning! Check out the SSI info about the program: https://www.divessi.com/en/diving-for-kids
Scuba Explorers introduces children to scuba in a gentle, multi faceted way. This course is NOT a certification course, it’s an experience course, for children 8-13 years old. Your Scuba Explorer will learn about ocean convservation, work on snorkeling skills and be introduced to most of the same skills as in an open water course (snorkeling, regulator breathing, mask skills, etc) in a no pressure way. There’s no pass or fail in the course, and while students are encouraged to try the skills there’s no pressure to if they’re not comfortable doing them. We also leave plenty of time to just play and get comfortable underwater (and bring plenty of toys to play with!)
Scuba Explorers classes are safe, taught only by instructors specifically trained in teaching scuba to children, and will introduce your child to the wonders of scuba in a gentle, multi-faceted manner. It’s a great pre-cursor to an open water certification, or just for fun! While they won’t be able to get into the ocean until they are old enough to take the Junior Open Water Course, the Scuba Rangers Course can start to develop a passion that could turn into a lifelong hobby, or even more!
The course fee of $500 per child includes all necessary gear (students should bring a bathing suit and towel), a certified instructor (1:4 ratio), a Scuba Explorers workbook and stickers, and an ECD t-shirt . ECD will provide all the necessary gear, though we encourage students to have their own mask, fins and snorkel to ensure comfort and fit. Students that require vision correction (glasses) to participate will need to provide a prescription mask for themselves. All ECD students receive 10% off equipment purchases while enrolled in a course.
* please note that a student MUST participate in the Snorkel Explorer session (session 1) or schedule a private make up session to move forward to the Scuba Explorers sessions
