The Scuba Rangers Course introduces children 7-12 to most of the same scuba skills that open water divers learn, in a no pressure, pool play environment. Skills are introduced and children are encouraged to try them, but are never forced if they’re uncomfortable trying or practicing a skill. We also make sure to leave plenty of time for kids to play and have fun underwater. After they’ve completed the five development sessions, Scuba Rangers are eligible to participate in specialty sessions to learn more scuba skills, earn further Rangers certifications, and have even more fun!
Scuba Rangers classes are taught only by instructors specifically trained in teaching scuba to children with safety as our primary concern while introducing your child to the wonders of scuba in a gentle, multi-faceted manner. It’s a great pre-cursor to an open water certification, or just for fun! While they won’t be able to get into the ocean until they are old enough to take the Junior Open Water Course (10 years or older), the Scuba Rangers Course can start to develop a passion that could turn into a lifelong hobby, or even more!
Before your Scuba Rangers Course, there is a bit of paperwork you and your child have to fill out. This program requires a minimum of 5 distinct forms. You can find the forms below and complete them ahead of your pool session, most important is the “SCUBA – MEDICAL FORM“. Go through the medical form now and check to see if you need to answer “YES” to any of the questions. If so no big deal – you’ll just need to get a doctors’ sign-off before we can let you in the water. The doctors’ note is in the additional “PHYSICIAN’S RELEASE” file – along with guidelines for your physician. Remember if you answer “YES” to anything in the medical it is NECESSARY to get a doctors’ note BEFORE getting in the water. It’s also important to note if a physician’s signature is required only a medical doctor (MD) signature will be accepted. For minors, we will need a legal guardian’s signature as well so it’s best available especially at the beginning of class.
