Scuba Rangers

For bookings and more info, call the store:

The Scuba Rangers development program introduces children 7-12 to most of the same scuba skills that open water divers learn, in a no-pressure environment. Skills are introduced and children are encouraged to try them but are never forced if they’re uncomfortable trying or practicing a skill. We also make sure to leave plenty of time for kids to play and have fun underwater. After they’ve completed the five development sessions, Scuba Rangers are eligible to participate in specialty sessions to learn more scuba skills, earn further Rangers certifications, and have even more fun!

Scuba Rangers classes are safe, taught only by instructors specifically trained in teaching scuba to children, and will introduce your child to the wonders of scuba in a gentle, multi-faceted manner. It’s a great pre-cursor to an open water certification, or just for fun! While they won’t be able to get into the ocean until they are old enough to take the Junior Open Water Course, the Scuba Rangers Course can start to develop a passion that could turn into a lifelong hobby, or even more!

Please Contact East Coast Divers 617-277-2216 or with any questions.

Before Class

Before you can start class you’ll need to fill out some paperwork. Most of this can be done ahead of time but some of it will have to be done in the shop. The only piece that MUST be completed at the shop is a folder provided by SSI because we keep it in-shop for our records. You can do this before class – just remember to show up 30 minutes early if you haven’t filled it out yet!

  • Between 7 and 12 years old
  • Clear medical history or MD sign-off if necessary.

Due to the specialization of our instructors for this class, private SCUBA ranger courses are typically not available. If you’re interested in joining a course or putting together a special SCUBA rangers event, please don’t hesitate to contact us at

Students are required to own their own mask, fins, snorkel, and booties (if necessary). We have all of these available in the shop.

  • Over 10 hours in the pool split between five sessions
