About the Diving

North Carolina is home to some amazing wreck diving. Each wreck has a tale to tell - some were sunk as artificial reefs while others fell fate to more grim circumstances. One of the most notable is the German U-boat that rests at 100ft - ask any of the crew members on the boat to learn it's history! The wrecks are also home to an incredibly diverse ecosystem with the diver-friendly sand tiger sharks at the top of the food chain. Schools of sand tiger sharks have been known to hang around many of the wrecks and will get remarkably close to the divers (they love posing for photos!). Schools of bait fish, rays, and corals are also common sights and just add to the wreck-tacular wonderland. The water temps at the end of May are a balmy 75+ degrees and visibility ranges from 30-80 feet.

Also found in parts of NC offshore are meg teeth! Prehistoric Megaladon teeth are found in the sand/rubble near the ledges and divers can dig for them or find them laying on top. Come try it, we're pretty sure you'll love it and catch "the fever"!

By popular request, we're again renting houses for the 2021 Wreck Trek lodging. Each rental house will include a full kitchen , shared bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax in after diving.  Linens and towels will be provided in each house.

Morehead City diving is done with Olympus Dive Shop.  Olympus Dive Center is a family owned and operated facility located in the heart of Morehead City, directly on the waterfront. “The Better Way to Dive North Carolina” is not only their motto but their goal when it comes to providing quality service, professionalism and keeping our customers diving.  Olympus has a strong focus on safety and their Dive Staff is friendly, detail-oriented and will make every effort to make sure your dives are memorable ones!
