Who I Am

Jane, a mermaid at heart, has loved the ocean since the day she was born. After graduating from Loyola University of New Orleans in 2016 with a degree in Marketing and Business Analytics, she joined the East Coast Divers team as a Marketing Intern. A few months later, Jane joined the ECD staff and has since taken the reigns on all things marketing and web related. When not in the water, Jane is either engulfed in her computer or talking someone’s ear off about sharks.

Favorite Certification Course: Ice Diving… no wait… Sidemount… no wait I’m sorry… I can’t choose! It’s a tie. Definitely a tie.

Favorite Dive Site: The wreck of the Rhone – off the coast of Salt Island, British Virgin Islands. I consider it my first dive. Not only is it a great place to see friendly nurse sharks, but it also has a haunted history!

Favorite Marine Creature: Sharks, of course. But to be specific, I love the Oceanic White Tip. It’s such a beautiful, solitary, powerful creature that can live at incredible depths. Maybe I’m a little envious.

How did I get involved in the dive industry: Both my parents are certified divers. In third grade I did this incredible report on the Black Tip Reef Shark and my parents and I stayed up all night sewing this stuffed animal replica of the shark for my presentation – it was awesome and I still have it! Growing up I was the sharks and minnows champion at our neighborhood pool. Plus, I have always had the travel bug. One day, things just kind of added up.

Goals as a Dive Professional: I have an interest in pursuing work in search and recovery operations. On the other end of the spectrum I also dream about working with Great Whites and other shark species! I’d also love to help out more with our Scuba Rangers program and teach kids about the wonders and opportunities of scuba diving!
