Warren Cohen East Coast Divers Repair Technician Scuba Diving

Who I Am

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Warren has always had a passion for the water; be it swimming, skating, or snowboarding. Following a study abroad program in Australia, Warren moved to boston to search for ways to supplement this passion. He found this through a position as a technical intern in the fall of 2016. Soon thereafter, Warren joined the staff as the repair technician under co-owner and head technician, Alex Dulavitz. When Warren isn’t diving or fixing things in the repair-cave, you’ll find him learning something random (albeit, interesting) online, talking nonstop about technical diving, or sleeping off the time until his next technical dive!

Favourite Certification Course: Definitely Sidemount. Althougth, the Advanced Nitrox/Deco Procedures comes in a very close second.

Favourite Dive Site: The SS Yongala shipwreck off the North-East coast of Queensland, Australia. SO much life somewhere so remote.

Favourite Marine Creature: I love all cephalopods, but specifically the Blue-Ringed Octopus, Dumbo Octopus, and the Flamboyant Cuttlefish.

How did I get involved in the dive industry: In the Spring of 2015 I got certified to ready myself for my upcoming study abroad trip in Australia. It was a necessity before leaving. Six months later I was returning home with dives all along the Australian East Coast. I volunteered a week at Yongala Dive, working and diving my Australian days away. I came back with a need to stay underwater as long as possible.

Goals as a Dive Professional: I have an interest in pursuing work in search and recovery operations. However, I would love to one day aid in decompression research, with a focus in biochemical mechanisms. On the other hand, I would love to also teach anyone with a passion for the underwater world!
