The ECD crew has tested a lot of lights over the years. We still stock the plastic Princeton Tec lights and locator strobes and they are good budget options but we always gravitate back to the high-quality lights from Big Blue. The lights offer a great cost-to-brightness ratio, are constructed from high-quality materials with anodized aluminum housings, and are very simple to operate. The range starts with basic AL250, a 250-lumen twist-on backup light and extends to extremely bright 60,000-lumen wide beam video lights. The company stands by its products — when a damaged light can’t be repaired we are typically graced with a low-cost refurbished replacement. The most popular systems we stock are outlined below.
The updated version of the trusted AL1200, the AL1300NP is a best seller! With a compact form factor, this narrow beam cuts through the backscatter to help recreational divers hunt down critters under ledges and navigate on night dives. It’s a great backup light for technical divers as well. We often sell this light in a popular combo pack with a 450-lumen backup for recreational divers.
This is the most popular light in our dive pro community. The narrow beam offers divers a tight-focused light that penetrates well for signaling while the powerful wide angle is perfect for illuminating a cavern or capturing clear and balanced video. The red mode is awesome on night dives for entry and exit or tracking light-sensitive critters.

This powerful little light features a focusable light beam ranging from a smooth 37° at the wide end to an extremely tight and penetrating 7° narrow beam. The narrow focus is excellent for signaling your dive team if you start to get separated – ask Alex about the time he used it to alert his team to a snag in the caves. This light is a great, versatile light option for any diver, especially as a backup light.
Like the small CF450-II, the powerful CF1200P-II has a focusable beam. Consider it if you need a medium form factor technical backup light.

With the same compact housing as the AL1300NP, The new 2021 AL1300 STROBE offers a 12 hour burn time and 60 pulses per minute! this light is a trusted safety light for all divers. We use this strobe to mark the location of descent lines when diving on local wrecks and reefs. Its brightness is impressive and it’s a gamechanger when it comes to finding your way back to the mooring/anchor to start your ascent!

The VL10000P-RCP is a self-contained, compact yet powerful, all-purpose dive light—but it is best suited for video purposes with its extra-wide 120-degree beam and cool white color temperature. The VL10000P-RCP will provide a beautiful even-toned light source to make any underwater creature pop with natural color. Remote controls allow you to position the strobes for video or photo capture and operate the lights from the tray – no need to reach for the lights to power on-off or change brightness settings!

I keep the 450-lumin focusable light on my rig as a backup.
I was introduced to BigBlue lights not long after I began diving. I needed a light for a night dive and my instructor recommended the 1,200 lumen wide-angle. The folks at the shop made the brilliant suggestion that I also pick up a 450 lumen as a backup. Those served me well, and over time I grabbed additional BigBlue lights, including a pair of video lights to put on my camera rig. The BigBlue lights have always performed and never let me down. They have grown with my diving, up through technical training. Whenever other divers ask, I let them know how well my lights have served me.

The tri-light “wolverine” setup includes two 1,200 NL lights on either side of the 1,200 WL
