Located in the pristine protected sanctuary of the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, the wreck of the F/V Patriot is an ECD favorite. The fishing vessel Patriot was a steel-hulled western rig dragger that foundered and sank in 100′ of water in 2009. The 62′ long hull is still intact and hosts a fair amount of marine growth. Multiple species of bottom-dwelling fish are regularly seen here including longhorn sculpin and sea robins. From whale encounters to massive schools of fish, the life in the sanctuary is undeniably outstanding. For the second dive, the boat will motor back to Gloucester for a dip on the famed Chester Poling wreck. The Poling was first dove by ECD’s original owner Paul Adler, and offers a wealth of marine life and a view to how wrecks change over time.
Both charters require AOW or a deep specialty and OW certification. This is a two tank recreational charter. Divers must bring ALL equipment they need to dive. The boat/ECD will not have spares of any gear or provide any diving gear. ECD typically provides a dive professional to assist divers on and guide them on the dives, however, all divers should be prepared to dive independently with a buddy if a dive professional is not available on a charter.
