Are your no-decompression limits (NDLs) limiting your dives? Do you find yourself needing to ascend earlier than desired? Are you occasionally diving deeper than your training, leading to your dive computer entering decompression? While encountering a few minutes of decompression may appear harmless, it’s the unforeseen emergency situations that underscore the necessity of Decompression Diving equipment and training.

While some divers may exceed their training limits without consequence, the essence of Decompression Diver training lies in equipping you to safely extend your time at deeper depths. It aims to enhance your ability to anticipate and manage the challenges inherent in prolonged and deeper dives. Crucially, it prepares you to address emergencies during extended, deeper dives while adhering to the decompression ceiling necessary for a safe return to the surface.

Our Decompression Diving course not only addresses these aspects but also tackles the demanding conditions of the North Atlantic. Decompression Divers in the North Atlantic are among the most skilled divers globally due to the rigorous training they undergo. If you aspire to join the elite cadre of North Atlantic Decompression divers, ready to tackle some of the most daunting underwater environments worldwide, this course is tailored for you. Throughout the course, you will hone essential skills and foster robust team dynamics.

Trimix is an optional Add-On. Without the Trimix Add-On, this course is limited to a depth of 40 meters. The Trimix Add-On can be selected as part of the booking procedure to increase the training depth to 45 meters. The final Certification will only include a 45-meter Trimix endorsement if you complete the Trimix Add-On. Please direct all questions to alex@ecdivers.com

NOTE REGARDING EQUIPMENT!!

If you are a drysuit diver, that’s GREAT! Because once you move from Foundations to Deco training (such as this class) in New England, a drysuit is required equipment. If you are not a drysuit diver, it is not a quick transition from wet to dry. You’ll need to purchase a suit and gain at least 12 - 24 dives of experience to have a chance to lock in with the suit and be prepared to have the control you’ll need to succeed in this class. Because we do deal with extreme depths, cold temps, and extended deco stops in XR Extended Range Nitrox, this course cannot be completed in a wetsuit. So if you are already a Drysuit diver with 1 or 2 dozen dives of experience, you should be ready for this program, but if not, you should start preparing to switch to a drysuit.

Not Sure You're Ready in Your Drysuit?

  • Can you hold position in perfect trim over a single point for 5 minutes or more without more than half a foot of depth change?
  • Can you Frog Kick, Helicopter Turn, Back Kick on command in your Drysuit?
  • Do you NEVER lose control in your drysuit or ascend even slightly faster or slower than you were intending?
  • Can you perform tasks such as writing in wetnotes, clip or unclip equipment, communicating with a team member, and Deploy a DSMB and not vary in depth more than half a foot?
  • Do you have video proof that you can do these things within these parameters?

Trimix Add-on

The Trimix course add-on expands upon the Decompression Course to include Trimix use and increased max depth limits for the final 2 dives of the program. This add-on results in the "Trimix" endorsement on the student's certification, allowing them to obtain Trimix fills from a fill station after certification. The Trimix Add-On can be selected as part of the booking procedure. Please direct all questions to alex@ecdivers.com
