Bonaire Freediving Camp

Two Weeks. World-Class Depth. Serious Coaching.

This November, join us in Bonaire, one of the best freediving training locations on the planet, for a two-week freediving camp built around real skill development, thoughtful coaching, and time in the water that actually moves the needle.

Bonaire isn’t just beautiful, it’s functional. Easy access to depth, consistent conditions, minimal logistics, and a long history as a training ground for freedivers at every level. Nick has spent over 20 trips diving and training here, and both Ted and Nate know the island well. We’re not learning the venue on your time, we’re using it.

Who’s Nick Fazah?   Who’s Ted Harty?   Who’s Nate Leazer?

How the camp works

The camp runs over two consecutive weeks, and you can join us for:

  • Week One

  • Week Two

  • Or both weeks, if you want to fully immerse and progress

Throughout both weeks, Nick, Ted, and Nate will be actively teaching, coaching, and diving alongside participants. Training includes a mix of:

  • In-water line diving sessions

  • Pool based sessions

  • Land based lectures and workshops within each instructor’s specialty

  • Technique focused coaching

  • Video review and feedback

  • Skill refinement and progression rather than box checking

This is not a conveyor belt course. It’s a chance to spend real time training, asking questions, fixing weak points, and understanding why things work, not just how to pass a dive.

Who this is for

This camp is ideal if you want to:

  • Refine your freediving technique in a focused environment

  • Spend meaningful time training with multiple instructors and perspectives

  • Build comfort, consistency, and confidence in depth progression

  • Work toward an Intermediate Freediver certification, if appropriate

  • Or simply sharpen your skills without the pressure of chasing numbers

Some people will arrive looking to earn a certification. Others will come to slow things down, clean things up, and leave diving better than they arrived. Both approaches are welcome.

The experience

Beyond the training, this is about spending time on a special island with a small group of motivated divers. Bonaire offers incredible food, relaxed island rhythm, and a setting that supports focused training without feeling like a grind.

You’ll leave with:

  • More efficient technique

  • Better understanding of your diving

  • Practical tools you can continue using after the trip

  • And a deeper relationship with the water and your own process in it

This camp is about progress, not posturing. Serious training, delivered in a human way, in one of the best freediving locations in the world.

About the Diving

Bonaire is widely regarded as one of the best training destinations in the world for freedivers, and for good reason. The island offers a rare combination of easy logistics, consistent conditions, and immediate access to depth, all without the complications that often come with more remote training locations.

Easy access to depth

One of Bonaire’s biggest advantages is how quickly you can get into meaningful water. Many training sites are accessible directly from shore, allowing us to focus on efficient training sessions rather than long transits or rigid boat schedules.

Depth is close, reliable, and repeatable, which makes it ideal for:

  • Line diving and structured depth progression

  • Technique focused sessions

  • Skill repetition without unnecessary fatigue

This kind of access is exactly what you want for a training camp built around improvement, not novelty.

Consistent conditions

Bonaire is known for:

  • Warm water year round

  • Generally calm seas

  • Excellent visibility

While no ocean environment is ever guaranteed, the consistency here allows us to plan training with confidence and adapt sessions without constantly fighting conditions. That means more productive water time and better learning outcomes.

A training friendly environment

The island has a long history of supporting divers, both scuba and freediving. Infrastructure, local knowledge, and dive friendly operations make it a place where training can run smoothly without unnecessary friction.

For freedivers, this translates into:

  • Less stress around logistics

  • More time focused on technique and recovery

  • A safer, more controlled training environment

More than just depth

While Bonaire offers fantastic depth access, this camp is not about chasing numbers. The environment allows us to work on:

  • Streamlining and efficiency

  • Equalization mechanics

  • Relaxation and breath control

  • Consistency and repeatability

  • Safe, sustainable progression

It’s a place where divers often make their biggest technical improvements, not because the water is extreme, but because it’s forgiving enough to let you slow down and do things well.

Island life

Outside of training, Bonaire offers a relaxed island pace, great food, and easy down time between sessions. Recovery matters, and Bonaire supports that balance better than most destinations.

This is a location that works equally well for:

  • Focused training

  • Learning and refinement

  • Enjoying the experience without burnout

For the Bonaire Freediving Camp, instructors will be staying at Captain Don’s Habitat. It’s a well known, diver friendly property with easy access to the water and training logistics.

That said, participants are welcome to stay wherever they like. Bonaire has a wide range of accommodation options, from resorts and condos to private rentals, and you’re free to choose what best fits your budget and travel style.

Getting around

All participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from training locations.

A rental truck is highly recommended. Bonaire is easy to navigate, but having your own vehicle makes training days smoother and gives you flexibility outside of scheduled sessions.

To help with logistics:

  • We’ll set up a WhatsApp group for all registered participants

  • This allows people to connect ahead of time

  • You can coordinate shared housing, roommates, or cost sharing on rental trucks if you choose

Nothing is required, but the group makes it easy to link up if you want to.

Need help deciding?

  • Recommended accommodations near training locations

  • Suggested arrival and departure windows for your chosen week

  • Transportation planning, including rental car recommendations

  • Local logistics related to training days and meeting points

  • Island orientation and local knowledge to make your stay easier and more enjoyable

While lodging and transportation are not bundled into the training fee, we will ensure you have clear, proven options to choose from based on past experience on the island.

Training access and facilities

The trip setup provides access to:

  • Open water training sites with easy, reliable access to depth

  • Pool facilities used for select training sessions

  • Shore based and boat supported training environments as appropriate

  • Safe, established freediving infrastructure specific to Bonaire

All training locations are chosen for consistency, safety, and efficiency, not novelty.

What’s not included

To avoid confusion, the following are not included in the trip or training fees:

  • Airfare to and from Bonaire

  • Lodging accommodations

  • Rental cars or fuel

  • Meals, groceries, or personal expenses

  • Optional island activities outside of scheduled training

This structure allows participants to control their budget, extend their stay, or travel with friends or partners who are not participating in the camp.

Optional extras

Participants may choose to add:

  • Additional recreational diving or island activities on non-training days

  • Extra days before or after the camp

  • Shared accommodations with other participants if desired

None of these are required to participate fully in the camp.

The pricing for the Bonaire Freediving Camp covers training only.

This keeps the structure clean, flexible, and transparent. You’re paying for access to instructors, coaching, and in-water time, not bundled travel or accommodations.

Details on lodging, travel, and what’s included on the trip itself are outlined separately in the Trip Includes section below.

What the training fee includes

Your camp fee covers all instruction and training for the week you attend, including:

  • Daily freediving training sessions with Nick, Ted, and Nate

  • In-water line diving sessions with structured progression

  • Pool based training sessions where appropriate

  • Land based lectures and workshops within each instructor’s specialty

  • Technique focused coaching and individualized feedback

  • Video review to help identify and correct inefficiencies

  • Safety supervision during all training activities

  • Small group ratios to ensure meaningful instructor interaction

For divers who are eligible and interested, the week also provides the opportunity to earn an Intermediate Freediver certification. Certification is based on performance and readiness, not guaranteed by attendance.

Divers who already hold an Intermediate certification may use the week purely for skill refinement, coaching, and progression without repeating course requirements.

One week or two

The camp runs over two consecutive weeks, and you may register for:

  • One week

  • Both weeks

Each week is a complete training block. Divers attending both weeks benefit from additional time to integrate feedback, build consistency, and progress at a more deliberate pace.
