We’re taking over an island! Tucked away in the turquoise waters off the coast of Guanaja, Clark’s Cay offers the kind of escape that feels truly off the grid while still delivering world-class diving and laid-back luxury. This private island retreat is all about slowing down, soaking up Caribbean views, and spending your days exploring vibrant reefs, dramatic walls, and crystal-clear water just minutes from your bungalow. With no crowds, no cruise ships, and nothing on the schedule except diving, sunsets, and great company, Clark’s Cay is a welcoming fit for families, couples, and solo travelers alike—whether you’re looking to share the adventure or simply unplug and enjoy island life at your own pace.

About the Diving

Clark’s Cay is a gateway to some of the most exciting and pristine dive sites in the Caribbean, making it a standout destination for divers of all experience levels. The island’s location just off the coast of Guanaja, Honduras places you in the heart of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the second-largest reef system in the world. Here, you’ll find dramatic underwater terrain that ranges from shallow, fish-filled reefs to deep walls, vertical pinnacles, swim-throughs, and caverns — all teeming with vibrant marine life. Whether you’re new to this region or returning to explore its famed drop-offs, the diving around Clark’s Cay delivers unforgettable variety and visibility typically between 80 and 120 feet.

Diving at Clark’s Cay is exceptionally accessible. You’ll enjoy boat dives that depart right from the island, meaning minimal transit time and more time in the water. The dive team at Clark’s Cay is experienced, safety-focused, and knowledgeable about the local currents and wildlife patterns, which allows them to tailor dive plans to the conditions and your group’s interests. Common highlights include colorful reef sections full of schooling fish, resident eagle rays cruising along the slopes, turtles grazing on sponges, and the chance to encounter reef sharks and larger pelagic species on deeper profiles. Throughout the week, you may also get the opportunity to dive the “Punta Gorda Pinnacles,” “Baby Pinnacles,” and other standout walls and ledges that have made this area a favorite among returning divers.

For those who want to mix it up, night dives and guided drift dives can also be arranged, offering a chance to experience the reef in a completely different light. Night dives bring out unique critters like lobsters, octopus, and sleeping reef fish, while drift dives along the walls showcase the scale and diversity of the reef structure as you glide alongside dramatic drop-offs.

Divers of all skill levels are supported at Clark’s Cay, from confident Advanced Open Water divers who want to push into deeper sites and more complex terrain, to Open Water divers eager to explore vibrant shallows and big sea life. Dive guides are excellent at adapting briefings and dive plans to match comfort levels and interests, ensuring everyone feels safe and engaged. With plentiful underwater life, stunning coral formations, and incredibly clear water, the diving at Clark’s Cay is a major highlight of your Honduran island getaway.
