What they are. A spare power inflator assembly (the thing with the inflate and deflate buttons) and a spare dump valve (the pull-dump on the shoulder or the lower back), matched to the make and model of your BCD or wing, packed in your save-a-dive kit.

Why divers want them. When a BCD fails on a trip, it is almost always one of these two parts: an inflator that sticks and slowly fills the bladder, a button that leaks, a dump that won’t seal. Both are simple to swap in a few minutes with no tools beyond a wrench, but only if you have the part. Dive shops in resort towns rarely stock the right one for your brand. A spare in the bag turns a lost dive week into a ten-minute fix on the boat.

Good to know. Inflators and dump valves are not interchangeable between brands, and sometimes not between models of the same brand, which is why we match them while we have your BCD on the bench. We can also show you the swap when you pick the gear up or send a short video with the return.

What we’ll ask you. Nothing, usually. We identify the right parts from your BCD and quote them.

Interested? Tick it on the equipment service request when you send your gear in. Nothing on that list is added to your estimate; we confirm the details and the price with you by email before anything is fitted or charged. Questions: service@ecdivers.com or 617-277-2216.
