What it is. A plain submersible pressure gauge: a small brass-bodied gauge with a glass face, on its own high-pressure hose, with a bolt snap so it clips to a D-ring on your harness. No plastic console, no boot, no compass or depth gauge riding along with it.
Why divers want it. A console is bulky, drags, and is usually left dangling where it bangs on the reef and the boat ladder. A brass and glass gauge clips to your left hip, out of the way, and you lift it to read it. The brass body shrugs off knocks that crack plastic consoles, the big clear face is easy to read in bad visibility, and there is less to flood. Most divers with a wrist computer already have the depth and compass covered, so the console is dead weight. It is the standard gauge in the DIR configuration.
Good to know. We strip your console, fit the new gauge to your HP hose (a 24 in hose works best for hip mounting; we can reuse yours if it is the right length) tie on a bolt snap with cave line the standard DIR way (no cable ties to cut you or let go), and send the old console back to you unless you tell us to bin it. If your console holds a computer or compass you still want, we’ll talk through options for mounting those separately.
What we’ll ask you. Whether to swap the HP hose, what to do with the old console, and whether you want a 2 in or 1.5 in face.
