What it is. A loop of bungee cord that goes around your neck and holds your backup second stage just below your chin. It costs very little and takes two minutes to fit.

Why divers want it. Your backup regulator is always in exactly the same place: look down, and it is there. No octo holder to work loose, no second stage dragging in the sand or dangling behind you, and nothing to hunt for when you or your buddy needs it in a hurry. It pairs with a long hose on the primary (you donate the primary and go to the necklaced backup), but it works just as well on a conventional set where it simply keeps the octo tidy and findable. Instructors like it because students can’t lose the octo.

Good to know. The backup usually sits on a shorter hose (about 22 in) so it hangs properly; if your current octo hose is a long one, we’ll suggest swapping it. We tie the necklace as an adjustable loop with a double fisherman’s knot, so you can tension it to sit exactly where you want it and still slip it off the regulator without cutting anything. If you would rather have it fixed, we can tie it in under the mouthpiece zip tie instead.

What we’ll ask you. Whether your octo hose length needs changing to suit it.
