What they are. Traditional rubber-jacketed regulator hoses. We fit Halcyon’s, which are made to the standard lengths used in the DIR / Hogarthian configuration (22 in, 24 in, 40 in, 7 ft) and are tough and consistent from batch to batch.
Why divers want them. Some divers simply prefer rubber. A rubber long hose has a bit more body than a braided one, so it holds its routing under the arm and around the neck and doesn’t float about; rubber is also very abrasion resistant, which wreck and cave divers appreciate. And if the hoses on your set are old, cracked, or a mix of odd lengths, a matched set of new rubber hoses is the no-nonsense fix.
Good to know. Rubber hoses are heavier than braided ones and stiffen in cold water. Whichever material you choose, hoses are a wear item: plan on replacing them after about five years or 500 dives, sooner if you see cracking, bulges or corrosion at the fittings.
What we’ll ask you. Which hoses to replace and what lengths. If you want the full DIR-style set, see hose lengths and routing.
