What it is. A mouthpiece you mould to your own teeth. It was designed by an orthodontist: you soften it in hot water, bite down, and it takes the shape of your bite. If you get it wrong, or your dental work changes, you can re-mould it.
Why divers want it. A stock mouthpiece is held in place by your front teeth and jaw muscles, which is why your jaw aches after a long dive or a week on a liveaboard. A moulded mouthpiece extends back along your teeth so the back of the jaw does the holding, with far less muscle effort. Divers who switch usually describe it as the regulator “just sitting there.” It also seals better for people who tend to take on water around the mouthpiece.
Good to know. Seacure makes several sizes to match the mouthpiece fitting on different regulators (Apeks, Scubapro, Aqua Lung, Atomic, Poseidon and so on all differ). We pick the right one for your second stage and fit it; the two-minute hot-water moulding you do at home with the instructions we include. One per second stage: most people do the primary and leave the octo as-is, but you can do both.
What we’ll ask you. Which second stage(s) you want it on, and whether you’d rather have it fitted or sent loose as a spare.
Interested? Tick it on the equipment service request when you send your gear in. Nothing on that list is added to your estimate; we confirm the details and the price with you by email before anything is fitted or charged. Questions: service@ecdivers.com or 617-277-2216.
